Our cats' favorite words to describe just how bad it really is 
(usually in connection with piteous accounts of a lack of food and/or petting for the whole of recorded history -- or, at least, of living memory):

• horribilific
• terriblendous
• wretchedastrous
• wretchedastralamitous
• catastralamitous

 and, to cap it all off in suitably grand style:

• The Four Kitties of the Apocalypse.

(In case you missed your cue, that last one is where you cover your mouth with both forepaws -- I mean, hands -- in utter horror at the sheer scale of the disaster.)
