FAVORITE CHRISTMAS QUOTES 2012, # 14:

"Bless the Beasts and the Children"

Bless the beasts and the children
For in this world they have no voice
They have no choice

Bless the beasts and the children
For the world can never be
The world they see

Light their way
When the darkness surrounds them
Give them love
Let it shine all around them

Bless the beasts and the children
Give them shelter from the storm
Keep them safe
Keep them warm

Light their way
When the darkness surrounds them
Give them love
Let it shine all around them

Bless the beasts and the children
Give them shelter from the storm
Keep them safe
Keep them warm

The children . . .
The children . . .
The children . . .

Although not a traditional Christmas text, the lyrics of this song by Barry DeVorzon and Perry Botkin, Jr, serve both as a prayer and as a reminder of the need for the strong among us to step forward and assist the most vulnerable, which is one of the central messages of Christmas.

Many of us will also recall the most popular recording of this song, featuring Karen Carpenter's lovely alto.

The Carpenter's song was also the title song of an early 1970s movie of the same name.
